PUTNAM COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
June PACE EH Update
We were on the agenda with North
Palatka Weed and Seed for the May meeting I attended to present
several Health Department projects, including PACE EH but they focused
the meeting on a major joint federal/FDLE/local law enforcement drug
bust the largest in Palatka history which was a major accomplishment
for the area. I expect to be on the agenda for the next meeting. The
Chief of Police himself has taken over the Seed committee (that brings
in resources/services to the community) to get that part of the Weed and
Seed project moving. I have an excellent working relationship with him
and expect cooperation.
We presented PACE EH at our Public Health Performance Standards workday
in May that included major stake holders from the community, mostly from
the chronic disease workgroup Ive been leading this past year that is
to form the backbone of PACE EH. The group wants to re-establish a
county-wide health care advisory committee through the county
commissioners. This advisory group went by the wayside three years ago
due to a loss of support from the commissioners. This would be a good
group to build support for PACE EH.
I am assisting the Putnam County Minority Coalition through a strategic
planning process and will use that venue to introduce/encourage support
for PACE EH. That coalition is sustaining about 30-40 persons per month
at their meetings and many of those persons are from the Weed and Seed
area.
