Subject: West Perrine Environmental Health Community Project Progress Report

Project Summary:
As a result of networking with community members in West Perrine, representatives of Commissioner Dennis C. Moss have shown interest in the project and would like to join efforts in implementing this project. Due to their interest, additional key stakeholder have been identified and contacted by their office.

On Tuesday, June 22, 2004, we hosted our second community meeting at the South Dade Government Center. During that meeting, a lot of the key stakeholders expressed a lot of frustration, due to the lack of action that has not been enforced when projects such as this one is implemented in their community. We have realized that special efforts need to be made to build a better and positive relationship with the community of West Perrine. In order to meet the needs of the community, the assessment phase will be shorten and more time will be spent in the plan of action phase. Since the community have conducted assessment such as this, each previous assessment will be assorted, compiled, and utilize accordingly.

Issues/Problems:
During our second community meeting, a lot of frustration and obvious lack of trust from key stakeholders towards the health department was expressed. According to the key stakeholders of West Perrine, there have been numerous environmental health-related assessments conducted in the community and no plan of action has been implemented. As a result of the number of assessments conducted in this community, each previous documented assessment will be evaluated, compiled and utilized accordingly.
