Subject: Highway Park PACE EH Project
Highway Park is a 112 acre community in Lake Placid some 2 miles south of the city commercial center along the stretch of Hwy 27. This is a predominantly African American community, with about 307 families, majority of which belong to low and very low income group. This is a close knit socio- economically disadvantaged community with unique set of challenges.
The Environmental Health Division started to establish partnership relations with the community in 2006 and have identified some baseline indicators on environmental issues. A decision to re-launch the project was made for 2 reasons, hiring of a full time staff and give the project a fresh start.
