Mobile Home and Recreational Vehicle Parks

Health Issues

This program includes approximately 5,700 mobile home parks, lodging and recreational vehicle parks, and recreational camps in Florida.  The objective of this program is to minimize the risk of injury and illness in this residential environment.  Of primary concern and importance are safe drinking water supply, proper sewage disposal, a safe and disease free swimming pool (where provided), and assurances that the establishment is free from garbage, harmful insects, and rodent infestations.

The county health departments receive and investigate environmental health and sanitation complaints about these facilities.  The county health departments provide complaintants with report findings and corrective actions taken.

Business Issues

Mobile home parks, lodging and recreational vehicle parks, and recreational camps are licensed annually by the Department of Health in accordance with Chapter 64E-15, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), rules. The county health departments provide direct services in the operational aspect of the program through routine inspections, plan reviews, educational programs, and enforcement actions. If you would like to open a facility, you can download an application form and submit it to the county health department in which the facility will be built.

The Department has received numerous requests for a statewide listing of all facilities licensed under this program. That listing is available from the department on CD only and for a fee of $60. The listing is provided in a delimited text format readily imported into database or spreadsheet software such as Excel, Quattro Pro, dBase or Access. To order a copy of the statewide list, complete the Mobile Home Park Listing Form (below) and send it with a check for $60 per CD to the address provided on the form.
